The Standards of practice for ecosystem restoration include over 300 recommended practices to maximize net gain for nature and people. SOPER Explore provides several ways to learn about each component, its subcomponents, and specific practices, and to access detailed guidance for successful ecosystem restoration projects.
Practices have been organized into five components in the restoration process:
- Assessment includes the identification and evaluation of the extent and scale of degradation, considering the site and its context within the landscape or seascape, as well as characterizing baseline and reference conditions.
- Planning and Design addresses establishing ecological, cultural, and socioeconomic targets, goals, and objectives and selecting restoration activities to meet these
- Implementation details recommendations for conducting planned restoration activities,
- Ongoing Managementincludes short- and long-term project needs after implementation, and
- Monitoring and Evaluation details measurement of progress toward recovery targets and evaluation of outcomes for adaptive improvements and lesson sharing.
Users can search all of the practices using their own keywords. Because some concepts can be referred to by different words, it is also possible to use filters to ensure that all relevant practices are shown.
